We always knew we wanted to make a difference in 2012.
With Electronic Dance Music (EDM) reaching more and more corners of the globe, it truly has become a world phenomenon. Gone are the days where electronic music was nestled in dark underground tunnels and masked from society. Today we see this so called… “underground music” taken into mainstream culture, sharing itself with the millions of people who live and breathe drum beats and synthesizers. There is a certain sincerity and intimacy about it, an emphases on freedom of creative expressions, and overall, an appreciation of artistic creativity. Through the accessibility of the web, “there is no underground”.
Now with everything transmitted laterally and collaboratively via the internet. You once had a series of gatekeepers holding everyone back and slowing down the evolution of trend. You had the “innovator”, the early adopter, the late adopter, the early mainstream, the late mainstream, and finally the conservative. But now it goes straight from the innovator to the mainstream.
In my eyes, I see this as good thing. Bring on digitally transmitted disease.
It’s amazing to see today kids as young as 16 slapping together tracks on computers in their bedrooms instilling their innocent music to the masses, kids like Madeon who have literally become stars overnight. It’s a time of chance, a time of opportunity, a time of favourable circumstances. Never has there been an easier time for people to share their love of music to their friends and to complete strangers. Here at SND, we like to call this the obvious act as: “inspiring others through music” a means for people to do what they love and to share what they love doing because at the end of the day there just isn’t a better feeling than inspiring someone new and receiving a new sense of appreciation.
From day one we’ve been wanting to inspire others and we’re now finally giving up and coming producers a chance to showcase their work. Talented individuals need to be placed into the spotlight and not dished away like the rest. These are how dreams begin and we will do whatever we can to help you on your journey to inspiring more and more people.
If you would like to go into the running to be featured on our SND Blog, please visit our ‘Submit Track‘ page. One original track or remix will be chosen every week.
